Salmon River Floodplain Enhancement and Revegetation
Karuna Greenberg, Salmon River Restoration Council
Join Salmon River Restoration Council for a fun day on the Salmon River, exploring floodplain enhancement projects, new and innovative revegetation methods, and get a chance to swim in this beautiful river. Field tour participants will explore the Red Bank and Kelly Bar habitat enhancement projects designed to increase the abundance of complex off-channel rearing habitat for winter and spring rearing of juvenile salmonids, enhancing and increasing the area of perennial groundwater-fed pools, increasing in-channel bed complexity using large wood features, and greatly enhancing riparian vegetation through large scale hugelkultur-esque techniques. We will lunch and take a swimming break along the spectacular Salmon River, so bring your swimsuits if desired.

Salmon River Snorkel Tour and Float
Sam Stroich, Salmon River Restoration Council
Sam Stroich, Salmon River Restoration Council
Join the Salmon River Restoration Council in a snorkel tour with inflatable kayaks and inner tubes on the lower Salmon River. We will travel a short distance downstream from Forks of Salmon, and float a two mile section of the river. The river will be very low this time of year, so we will be walking around any rocky sections, then floating through gorgeous pools and riffles, stopping to snorkel along the way. We will learn about and observe many species of fish, birds, and other river critters, and maybe see some salmon and steelhead. Inflatable kayaks, life jackets and snorkels will be provided. Bring your own equipment if you have it!
