Dougald Scott

Dougald was a biology professor at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California for thirty-two years and has been retired since 2002. His teaching duties included Cell and Molecular Biology, Physiology, and numerous field courses in Natural History. In retirement, he has been able to pursue his passion for fly fishing and fisheries conservation. He served six years as Steelhead Conservation Committee Chair for the Northern California Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers where he became acquainted with SRF and its important work.

Eli Asarian

Eli is an aquatic ecologist/hydrologist at Eureka-based consulting firm Riverbend Sciences. He has worked in California and Oregon watersheds for over 20 years, specializing in statistical analysis of large, complex datasets and has authored many technical analyses on streamflow, water temperature, water quality, and algae in the Klamath and Eel River watersheds. He also assisted with development and implementation of salmon and steelhead recovery plans throughout California.

Amy Trainer, J.D.

Amy has been an environmental leader for over twenty years. As a land use attorney in Kansas City, Missouri she worked on major public-private partnerships to rebuild the city’s urban core. She served as the first staff attorney at Friends of the San Juans in Washington State where she worked to protect wetlands, marine resources and the endangered southern resident killer whales. Also in Washington, she represented the Makah Tribe of Neah Bay to create the nation’s first Tribal Office of Marin Affairs that addressed state and federal oil spill prevention and response policy.

Innovative Approaches to Coho Salmon Recovery was a featured workshop of the 33rd Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference in Santa Rosa, CA.

A report and summary of this workshop is available online for download.

The report was compiled by one of the workshop coordinators, Stephen Swales of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and includes a summary of the workshop, as well as all presentation abstracts and PowerPoint slides.
