2026 Bay Area Steelhead Summit — Rates on Wednesday, October 7
East Bay, November 5 - 7
 
SRF, the Center for Biological Diversity, and the Alameda Creek Alliance will host our first-ever Steelhead Summit in the Bay Area. Thursday will include a full day assembly and an evening Poster Session that will highlight conservation strategies for steelhead recovery, including monitoring efforts, recovery planning, climate change adaptive strategies, and more. Friday and Saturday will include tours to Alameda Creek Watershed, San Francisquito Creek, South Bay Watersheds, and more. See the tour descriptions here. The agenda is posted here.
You can register here and find lodging information here. The early bird registration rate for the full summit will increase to $225 on October 7. Saturday-only registration is $30.

Second Call for 2027 SRF Presentation Abstracts
April 27 – 30, 2027, Santa Barbara, CA
 
The 44th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference will be held in Santa Barbara, California, on April 27 - 30, 2027, at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. The Second Call for Abstracts is now open; to submit an abstract for a workshop or concurrent session, please fill out this form by Thursday November 19, 2026. Questions can be emailed to abstracts@calsalmon.org.
 
Please note that the agenda evolves and the Final Call for Abstracts may differ. Most Session, workshop, and field tour descriptions are now posted. Early abstract submission helps SRF determine which sessions and workshops will be included in the final agenda.

44th Annual SRF Conference Hotel Group Blocks, FAQs, and more
April 27 – 30, 2027, Santa Barbara, CA
 
The Conference venue is the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. Conference registration will likely open in early December but you can reserve your hotel rooms now. Discounted hotel rooms often sell out before the conference registration does so please make your plans early. Additional hotel blocks will be added as they become available. 2027 Poster Session Registration Open
 
The Poster Session will be 7-10 pm on Thursday, April 29, 2027 at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. This annual event is open to all registered conference attendees and is a great venue to network with your peers.
If you would like to present during the Poster Session, click here to pre-register. Poster registration will be open until April 7, 2027. Please email poster@calsalmon.org with any questions.

Action Alert: Roadless Rule Comment Period Extended

The public comment period to speak against efforts to rescind the 2001 Roadless Rule has been extended. This is a critical decision that could have lasting impacts on California’s watersheds, wildlife, and communities that rely on clean, healthy rivers. You can submit here by October 6.

eDNA: An Effective, Affordable and Community-Friendly Monitoring Tool

Join Riverine Stewardship Program Manager, Amy Bailey, and DWR environmental DNA (eDNA) Scientists Melinda, Baerwald and Daphne Gille, in a discussion about using eDNA as a monitoring tool and how you can prove project effectiveness through simple water samples. Big Springs Community Day 2026
October 24, 10am - 2pm, Montague
 
CalTrout is co-sponsoring Big Springs Community Day 2026 with the CDFW, with support from the Quartz Valley Indian Reservation, Karuk Tribe, Siskiyou Science Festival, Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center, and The Nature Conservancy. The event will take place in Big Springs Ranch Wildlife Area and is free to attend. Learn more here. Please note the event is not ADA accessible.
