SRF is Hiring

SRF is immediately hiring a part-time Administrative, Outreach, and Development Assistant to join our team. Please apply by submitting a cover letter, resume, and list of three references to srf@calsalmon.org by March 19 and write “Administrative Assistant” in the subject line. Gather Film Screening at SRF Conference

Join SRF for a film screening of the new documentary Gather about Native Americans reclaiming their identities through food sovereignty. Anyone can register for the virtual film screening that will be available during the conference and will culminate with a panel discussion with the director and Yurok representative featured in the film.


2021 Wild and Scenic Film Festival

California Trout will host the Wild & Scenic Film Festival virtually, starting at 7pm on March 4th. Tickets to view this collection of environmental and adventure films are now available online.


SRF Restoration Job Board

SRF is hosting a Job Board on our website to post current positions related to the fisheries and watershed restoration field in California. Please email info@calsalmon.org to post a job on our webpage. 


CA Beaver Summit

Climate change is making California hotter, drier, and harder for people and wildlife. Beaver can help. Afternoon sessions are on April 7 (International Beaver Day) and April 9. Explore the many benefits that beavers offer to the ecosystems they occupy.


2020 Restoration Webinars 

Last summer SRF put on a webinar series highlighting topics that were planned for the 2020 conference. The recordings can be found on our website and vimeo page. Topics include fish passage, food webs, equity and inclusion, dam removal, and more! 


Support SRF's Redwood Creek Snorkel Survey

SRF in coordination with CDFW will conduct snorkel surveys in Redwood Creek, South Fork Eel this summer. The Watershed Fund is willing to match $1,000 towards this effort.
The last snorkel survey in this watershed was in 2015 and survey results will help inform our flow enhancement planning efforts. To contribute to the matching fund, please click here.

Early registration ends March 21 for the Salmonid Restoration Virtual Conference taking place from April 21-23, 2021. Please see the SRF website for information on workshops , concurrent sessions, and the Plenary session.

2021 FRGP Public Solicitation Notice Open

CDFW is now accepting applications for projects under the Fisheries Restoration Grant Program (FRGP). The 2021 FRGP Proposal Solicitation Notice (PSN) (PDF) and 2021 FRGP Guidelines (PDF) outline the priorities and requirements to apply. The deadline for applications is April 13, 2021, by 3:00 p.m. PDT. Applications must be submitted via CDFW WebGrants. Please visit CDFW’s FRGP program website for additional information.


Featured Conference Workshop: Speaking of Science

This workshop is focused on improving oral presentation skills for planners, scientists, engineers, and others who participate in restoration and conservation projects. Participants will leave the workshop with an improved skill set, including a checklist to develop and deliver impactful presentations. The workshop is highly interactive and builds on the collective experience of the audience and the instructor.
 


Apply for the SRF Diversity and Equity Scholarship!

Applications for our new scholarship fund are now available through the Humboldt Area Foundation scholarship portal. This fund is part of the 2021 Humboldt Area Foundation & Wild Rivers Community Foundation Scholarship Application, which is due by 11:59 PM on Monday, March 15, 2021. To apply, please fill out the general HAF Scholarship Eligibility Form and be sure to select "Watershed Sciences" and/or "Natural Resources" under the Field of Study question.

SRF created a scholarship fund in 2020 to support students that are underrepresented in the watershed field. If you would like to donate to our scholarship fund, please contact us at info@calsalmon.org or visit our scholarship webpage.


California Salmonscape Webpage

SRF and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation collaborated on a series of educational projects this year, designed to promote sustainable seafood. Links to download recipe cards, factsheets, posters, and additional information about our incredible salmonscape are now available on our website.


Pre-register for the 2021 Virtual Poster Session 

The Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference Poster Session will be held concurrently with the virtual conference April 21-23, 2021. You must be registered for the conference to participate.

SRF Conference T-shirt Now Available

SRF is pleased to have Ray Troll CA salmon art t-shirts now available that feature a panel from the CA Salmonscape artwork that was commissioned by NOAA Fisheries. This beautiful design is on organic cotton t-shirts and is only available through SRF. Please visit SRF's merchandise page to order merchandise including select Ray Troll hoodies, baseball caps, and t-shirts, and the new salmon playing cards that are also part of this collaborative project.
