2026 Salmonid Restoration Conference Proposal Solicitation - Due August 24

The 44th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference will be held in Santa Barbara, California, on April 27 - 30, 2027, at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. The Initial Call for Proposals is open; to submit a proposal for a workshop, concurrent session, or field tour, please fill out this form by Monday, August 24, 2026. The First Call for Abstracts will be posted in September 2026. Questions can be emailed to abstracts@calsalmon.or

28th Coho Confab  –  Nearly Sold Out 
August 20 - 23, 2026, Mendocino Coast
 

SRF with the support of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Fisheries Restoration Grant Program will host the 28th Annual Coho Confab in Caspar at the Jug Handle Creek Farm and Nature Center. This Confab will feature exciting projects on the Mendocino Coast, Navarro River, South Fork Eel and more. Field tour sites will include new large wood projects, water storage, off-channel ponds, riparian restoration, fish passage, and more! 

The final agenda is posted and registration is nearly full. Registration fees are $300. Participation is limited so please reserve your spot early. There are a limited number of rooms and bunkhouses available for those who would prefer not to camp. Email lindsay@calsalmon.org for rates and reservations.

2026 Grant Development Training for CA Tribes Pre-registration Extended to August 10, 2026
 

Salmonid Restoration Federation (SRF), California Indian Environmental Alliance; Tim Hoone, Community Development Director for the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation; and Lyn Craig, a grants consultant and former grant writer for the Nez Perce Tribe, are pleased to be offering an in-depth grant development and implementation training for California Tribes starting in September 2026.

Please complete this interest form by August 8, 2026 to receive more information. The 2nd and Final Orientation is from 1-2pm on August 12. Registration will be limited to 35 people for this six-month course. The course is $150 for 12 online seminars and scholarships are available for tribal members.

2026 Steelhead Summit – Call for Abstracts
East Bay, November 5 - 7
 

SRF, the Center for Biological Diversity, and the Alameda Creek Alliance will host our first-ever Steelhead Summit in the Bay Area. Topics include; The State of Our Steelhead; If You Build It They Will Come: Recent Fish Passage Projects; Restoration in Practice; Steelhead Monitoring Efforts; and Steelhead Recovery Planning.

Please complete this form to submit an abstract for the Steelhead Summit General Assembly on November 5. Submissions are due Friday, September 4, 2026.

FERC Comment Period Extended
Due September 18 at 2 pm PST

62nd Annual Yurok Salmon Festival

All are invited to the family-friendly 62nd Annual Yurok Salmon Festival. The festival includes numerous activities for kids, cultural demonstrations, Ney-Puy Run/Walk 5k, live music and more. Annual Wiyot Goutsuwe'n Celebration
August 22, 4pm 12am, Loleta, CA
 

Annual Wiyot Goutsuwe'n (One Sky) Celebration: This year it will take place on Saturday, August 22nd beginning at 4:00 PM and ending around midnight at the ceremony grounds on the north side of the Wiyot Tribe Table Bluff Reservation in Loleta, CA. There is no charge for entry, dinner tickets are $25. Learn more here.

Tunes in the Dunes

Friends of the Dunes will be hosting their new fundraiser, Tunes in the Dunes, a concert celebrating and supporting coastal conservation programs. Join them on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center in Manila, CA. Please note that this is a ticketed event.

2nd Annual Eel River Expo
September 19, 2026, 11am - 4pm
 

CalTrout is partnering with the Rotary Club of Eureka to host the second annual Eel River Expo: A Source to Sea Community Event! The Expo is a free community event that will include family activities, brief presentations from keynote speakers, and informal presentations from local scientists and other watershed experts at activity booths.
