35th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference FAQs

Where was the 2017 Conference facility?

The 2017 Annual Salmonid Restoration conference was held at the Veteran's Memorial Center at 203 E 14th Street, Davis, CA 95616.

What are the start and end times during the conference?

Wednesday and Thursday workshops and field tours are 9am to 5pm on March 29 - 30. Field tours promptly depart at 9am, so please come to the facility early to pick up your registration packet and pack a lunch for the day. Vans are provided for field tours.

The concurrent sessions on Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1, begin at 9am and generally go until 5pm.

How can I present at the 2017 SRF Conference?

Presenter abstracts were due November 14, 2016. Session and workshop coordinators select the abstracts that are the best fit for their particular session or workshop. SRF discourages presentations that have already been given at a previous annual conference. If for some reason your abstract is not selected, please consider presenting during the conference poster session.

When and how can I present during the 2017 Conference Poster Session?

The Poster Session was from 7-10 pm on Friday, April 1, 2017 at the Veterans Memorial Center in Davis, CA. This annual event is open to all conference attendees and a great venue to network with your peers. There is no cost to attend or present a poster. We encourage posters, pamphlet distribution, software exhibits, and multimedia (video) presentations.

What are my hotel options while attending the 2017 Conference?

SRF set up a group block with the Hallmark Inn at Davis, CA until March 7. The group block is under the group code SRF. The rate is $134 for double Queen rooms and $124 for King rooms. The block includes 30 Double Queens and 20 King rooms. The rate includes breakfast, happy hour, and free wi-fi. To make your reservation, please call (530) 753-3600.

The Best Western University Lodge is offering 30 rooms for $110 each. This hotel is conveniently located downtown and includes a continental breakfast, free wifi-fi and free parking. To make a reservation, please call (530) 756-7890 and ask for the SRF Group Block rate which will expire March 21, 2017.

The Aggie Inn is a boutique hotel located in downtown Davis, about a five minute drive from the conference venue. We are within walking distance to Downtown Davis restaurants, shopping, and a year-round Farmers Market. All of their guest rooms and suites are well appointed with pillowtop mattresses, complimentary Wi-Fi, premium cable TV, microwaves, and refrigerators. For information about room rates and reservations, call (530) 756-0352.

How do I nominate someone for an award?

Please submit 200 words or more to nominate candidates for the illustrious Restorationist of the Year Award, the Golden Pipe Award for Innovation, the Lifetime Achievement Award, and the new Gordon Becker Memorial River Advocate Award.

The restoration community mourns the loss of our colleague and friend, Gordon Becker, who is memorialized in this beautiful tribute. The Gordon Becker Memorial River Advocate Award is for candidates who have been strong river advocates or stewards.

All of these awards will be presented at the 2017 Salmonid Restoration Conference.

Nominations should be sent to srf@calsalmon.org by February 8, 2017. Please write "Award Nominations" in the subject line.

Should I sign up for field tours and the Banquet in advance or can I decide at the conference?

Space is limited for the field tours and the Banquet; they are expected to sell out. We strongly advise advance registration to ensure that you can go on a field tour and attend the Banquet. The Banquet includes a wild Copper River salmon dinner, local wine and beer, awards ceremony, Cabaret, and a great dance band.

Will there be onsite registration?

Pre-registration is now closed but there will be limited onsite registration. There are still spaces available for the Watershed Day at the Capitol and the Stanislaus Rafting tour. Both would require that you arrive by 8:15am to register and pack a lunch. If you are hoping to get on the Stanislaus tour, please bring appropriate rafting clothes and footwear. Membership dinner tickets and banquet tickets will be available for purchase onsite.

What meals are included in the cost of my registration?

Registration on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (April 29-March 1, 2017) includes lunch, either at the facility if you are attending a workshop or a packed lunch if you are going on a field tour.

Evening meals during the conference are optional on the following dates:

  • Thursday, March 30: The SRF Annual Membership Meeting and Dinner begins at 5:15pm. Please purchase tickets in advance and they may be available at the door.
  • Friday, March 31: Appetizers will be available during the Conference Poster Session from 7-10pm. Wine and beer will be for sale.
  • Saturday, April 1: The Annual Banquet and Cabaret is a conference highlight. Please purchase your tickets in advance to ensure a banquet ticket.

All meals will feature locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible.

If I register for a workshop or tour that is full, will I be able to get a refund?

SRF will contact you to see if you would like to sign up for another workshop or tour. If not, we will provide a refund for your tour/workshop.
