Turning the Tide: Restoring California’s Estuaries
Session Coordinator: Matt McKechnie, Stillwater Sciences
Estuaries provide critical rearing and transitional zone habitat for anadromous salmonids and restoration of these key habitats is playing an increasingly important role in salmonid recovery efforts. This session will highlight estuary restoration projects across California, as well as efforts currently in the planning and design phases. Presentations should focus on restoration planning, implementation, lessons learned, as well as research and monitoring efforts of salmonids in estuarine habitats. By linking applied restoration efforts with supporting science, this session will aim to advance the understanding of effective approaches for restoring estuarine habitats to benefit salmonids.
