From Models to Decisions: Population Modeling in Salmonid Conservation
9:00am - 5:00pm
Session Coordinator: Matt Drenner, PhD, Stillwater Sciences
Population models are playing an increasingly important role in addressing applied salmonid management challenges. Approaches such as life cycle, movement, and decision support models help evaluate population dynamics and population responses to management and/or conservation actions and can be used to quantify uncertainty through sensitivity analyses. Ultimately, these models provide quantitative information to inform decision making and reduce risk for resource practitioners. This session will highlight practical applications of population models in salmonid management and conservation.
