Community Integration in Land Stewardship

9:00am - 5:00pm
Session Coordinator: Ash Shannon, Cal Trout

True restoration doesn't happen through technical work alone. A healthy watershed depends on healthy communities, and lasting change on the land comes from people who feel connected to stewarding it, who are meaningfully informed rather than simply told, and who are mutually invested in its future. When community members understand the ""why"" behind a restoration project, not just the ""what,"" they become stewards rather than bystanders, and engaged community partners are a critical step toward collective action. This session centers relationship building, shared knowledge, and connection to place as core parts of ecological recovery and stewardship, honoring that we cannot heal a landscape while leaving out the people who depend on it and care for it.
