14th Annual Coho Confab

Rock Creek Ranch, South Fork of the Smith River
Del Norte County
Salmonid Restoration Federation and the Trees Foundation hosted the 14th Annual Coho Confab at Rock Creek on the South Fork of the Smith River in Del Norte County. This event was also sponsored by the California Department of Fish & Game, Smith River Alliance, and California State Parks. The Coho Confab is a symposium to explore watershed restoration, learn restoration techniques to recover coho salmon populations, and to network with other fish-centric people. The Confab allows for participants to learn skills and practices that can be applied to restore habitat in their home watershed.
The Confab was a huge success with over 60 participants. Confab highlights included field tours to Mill Creek state park where Rocco Fiori has done experimental wood loading, a fish passage project tour, underwater fish identification, macroinvertebrate sampling, a tour of Yurok tribe projects at Terwer Creek in the lower Klamath.
The 14th Annual Coho Confab will feature presentations, underwater fish identification, and macro-invertebrate sampling workshops and habitat restoration tours including erosion control projects, native riparian plantings, instream structures, and fish passage barrier removal.
