Second Call for Abstracts for the 2016 Salmonid Restoration Conference

The 34th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference will be April 6-9, 2016 at the River Lodge in Fortuna, CA.

Presenter abstracts are due on October 6, 2015.

SRF’s Call for Abstracts is highly competitive and not all propsals can be accepted. Presentations that have not been given before at our conference will have priority, and we recommend submitting your abstract early for review.

Receipt of your submission will be acknowledged by email and forwarded to the correct session chair.


Erosion and Sediment Control BMP Workshop

SRF and Pacific Watershed Associates will offer a Best Management Practices (BMP) workshop and field tour on Septemeber 16 at the Piercy Community Center in Piercy, CA.

This workshop will train watershed restorationists, wardens, and landowners in erosion control techniques, upslope remediation, and BMPs for grading.

Topics covered will include identifying and evaluating sediment sources, assessing environmental impacts from accelerated erosion and sediment delivery, designing and procuring grading plans, and the environmental permit application process and requirements. The workshop will include a field tour of road remediation sites in Mendocino County. 


Proposition 1 Grant Funding

The Wildlife Conservation Board has $38 Million ($200 million total) available in the first round of Prop 1 Funds for the California Stream Flow Enhancement Program. Proposals are due by September 30th.

The Coastal Conservancy has $15 million ($100.5 million total Prop. 1 funds) for its first round of Prop 1 solicitations.. There will be four solicitations per year. The first open solicitation is due on September 30th. 

California Department of Fish and Wildlife has over $38 million of Prop 1 funding available in this first solicitation for the Watershed Restoration and Delta Water Quality and Ecosystem Restoration Grant Program. Proposals are due on September 16th.

CDFW has updated their Frequently Asked Questions addressing the Prop 1 solicitation.

AFS Fish Passage Class

September 14-18, 2015 in Sacramento, CA the California-Nevada Chapter of American Fisheries Society will be offering a workshop on fish passage and fish screening considerations for planning, design, and operation with eight instructors from the NMFS, CDFW, and CDWR. Registration cost is $627.92 for California/Nevada chapter members and $833.95 for non-members. Register online here.
