Host Hotel Group Blocks Expire on Feb 15, 2008

SRF has arranged discounted rates at three host hotels:
Wine and Roses, located on 2505 W. Turner, Rd. Lodi, CA, is a beautiful boutique hotel adjacent to the Lodi Wine and Visitor's Center with a fabulous wine tasting room. This hotel can offer $78 doubles on the weekdays with a substantial increase on the weekend. To book, please call (209) 334-6988 by February 15 and let them know that you are with the Salmonid Restoration Federation block. Well worth the money.
The Holiday Inn - Express, located on 1140 S Cherokee Lane, (209) 334-6422, can provide for singles or doubles for $78 per night including weekend nights.
Comfort Inn, located on 118 N Cherokee Lane, (209) 367-4848, is offering double or single rooms for $65 a night.
For all host hotels, you must make your reservation by phone by February 15 to receive the discounted rates and let them know that you are attending the Salmon Restoration Federation Conference. All three of these hotels offer a complimentary breakfast and Internet access.
Work Trade Positions Available for Conference
SRF encourages interested participants to apply for work trade exchange for reduced conference costs. Work trade positions are a great way to learn about conference organizing and a tremendous support to SRF. days of workshops and field tours on fisheries restoration topics, a
plenary session featuring prominent keynote speakers and concurrent
sessions focusing on environmental, biological, and policy issues

Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour

Salmonid Restoration Federation is proud to host the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour as part of the 26th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference. The Film Festival takes place March 6, 2008, from 6:45pm to 10:00pm, in the Performing Arts Theater in Hutchins Street Square. Films being featured this year are Rita, Tales of the San Joaquin, Oil and Water Project, and the The Edge of Eden: Living with Grizzlies. Tickets are $12 general, $8 students and seniors. Advance tickets can be purchased at Sierra Adventure Outfitters or through Salmonid Restoration Federation.
Mokelumne River Watershed Education Tour Added
The City of Lodi is offering a guided tour of Mokelumne River Watershed Education Murals, the Lodi Lake/Mokelumne River Nature Area and the Woodbridge Irrigations District's (WID) facilities. Four educational murals were funded by a CALFED grant and the City of Lodi. A professional artist teamed up with local primary and high school students to create these murals. The Lodi Lake/Mokelumne River Nature Area is a 58 acre reserve with walking trails. View the new WID dam on the Mokelumne River and new fish passage facilities. The tour will be on the City of Lodi's Trolley Car - seating limited to about 40 people.
SPAWN Hiring Volunteer Coordinator
Salmon Protection and Watershed Network ( SPAWN), located in west Marin County, CA, works to protect and restore the Lagunitas Creek watershed with the aim of returning salmonid populations and their habitat to historical levels through the actions of an educated and motivated citizenry.
SPAWN is seeking to hire an energetic individual to coordinate SPAWN's growing volunteer driven activities including: Coho Spawning and Outmigrant Surveys, Volunteer Naturalist Program, Proposition 50 Coastal Non-Point Source Pollution Prevention Program, Community Education and Outreach, Fish Rescue and Relocation, Habitat Restoration Program, Native Plant Nursery Operation, Advocacy Program for fish-friendly policies.
Salary: Competitive w/other non-profits including full medical, dental, vacation, etc. Priority given to applicants who live in the Lagunitas Watershed or are willing to relocate. People of color and women are encouraged to apply.

FishAmerica Foundation RFP Due February 11
Funding for Community-Based Marine and Anadromous Fish Habitat Restoration Projects
The FishAmerica Foundation announces the availability of up to $800,000 for projects to restore marine, estuarine and riparian habitats important to marine and anadromous fish species. Visit FishAmerica to see the complete announcement, funding guidelines and application, and helpful contact information.
Projects must result in on-the-ground habitat restoration, clearly demonstrate significant benefits to marine, estuarine or anadromous fisheries resources, particularly sportfish, and must involve community participation through an educational or volunteer component tied to the restoration activities. Applicants are encouraged to incorporate the participation of NOAA staff to strengthen the development and implementation of sound restoration projects.
